You really do not need much for a dark retreat. The simpler your luggage, the fewer things there are to pull your attention outward.
Less really is more
Bring comfortable clothing that lets you stretch, meditate, lie down or simply move freely. The retreat is not about equipment; it is about the space you create for yourself.
If something is personally important to you, you can bring a favourite musical instrument, mala, amulet or another meaningful personal object.
If you normally eat larger portions or eat several times a day, you may bring a small snack so that the stay remains comfortable. From our own experience, however, appetite can be lower in darkness than in everyday life.
What to bring
- Comfortable clothing
- Personal toiletries
- A favourite musical instrument, if you wish
- A mala, amulet or meaningful personal object
- A small snack if you need one
What is better left at home
- Glass objects
- Fragile items that could break in the dark
- Too many “just in case” items
- Things that will constantly occupy your attention during the retreat
What is available on site

- Didgeridoo
